E-learning strategy for your organisation

Is your organisation ready for e-learning?

Successful implementation of online training such as rapid e-learning, open learning or informal learning relies on organisational readiness.  So how do you know when your organisation is ready to implement an online learning strategy?  Learning Lines e-learning consultancy can evaluate and report on organisational readiness and provide coaching and mentoring services throughout the implementation process.

How does it work?

Phase 1 – research and planning

A Learning Lines Consultant conducts short workshops or individual meetings with staff at all levels over a period of 5 - 10 days.  The workshops and meetings are designed to evaluate organisational systems and culture; and gather information about familiarity with and attitudes towards e-learning.  An audit of the Learning and Development (L&D) team’s skills in online design, development and facilitation is also conducted.   Once complete, the Consultant prepares a report and an action plan for the L&D team for the next 12 months.  The action plan includes an implementation strategy which is aligned to the organisation’s business goals.

Phase 2 - implementation

Option 1 – outsourcing e-learning design and development

The Consultant coaches and mentors the L&D team through the action plan.  This may include some of the following:

  • creating briefs for external consultants to design and develop e-learning courses
  • implementing and evaluating pilot programs
  • rolling out training
  • promoting and encouraging learner participation
  • managing learners and/or trainers through the period of change
  • developing ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement plans and processes.

Option 2 – building in-house capacity to design and develop e-learning

The Consultant coaches and mentors the L&D team through the action plan.  This may include some of the following:

  • training in e-learning design and/or facilitation
  • training in new technologies
  • implementing and evaluating pilot programs
  • rolling out training
  • promoting and encouraging learner participation
  • managing learners and/or trainers through the period of change
  • record keeping/reporting
  • developing ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement plans and processes

Who is it for?

L&D managers and trainers/assessors in any organisation.

What will they learn?

The emphasis is on assisting the L&D team to develop appropriate and engaging e-learning solutions which lead to measureable work-based learning outcomes. With an outside impartial view of the L&D process, senior management will gain further insights into how L&D can support broad organisational goals.

What can you expect?

Phase 1 – Research and planning

This phase is 5- 10 days, depending on the complexity and size of the organisation.  You can expect:

  • clear guidelines on challenges facing both L&D professionals and learners in engaging in e-learning, and strategies to overcome those challenges
  • a report on appropriate teaching and learning strategies for your organisation
  • a plan including a selection of courses to be developed, activities to be undertaken, timelines and milestones
  • personnel to include in the implementation plan
  • a budget for implementation (does not include internal costs)

Phase 2 – Implementation, Option 1

The following is provided over a 12 month period:

  • 12 days of coaching and mentoring
  • 12 thirty minute phone calls
  • Email support

Phase 2 – Implementation, Option 2

The following is provided over a 12 month period:

  • 2 day training program in the chosen technologies
  • 12 days of coaching and mentoring
  • 12 thirty minute phone calls

There are huge benefits to the L&D staff and the organisation as a whole. The L&D staff gain skills, knowledge and importantly the confidence to design and deliver learning which improves staff performance across the organisation.
